The board meeting In the board meeting we discussed the current situation on Sri Lanka and the progress of the projects and possible new projects. There was sad and good news. The sad news was that one of the workers on the project in Murokkodanchenai was killed by an unidentified gunmen on a motorbike. He was shot dead when he came home from work. The reason for this killing is not clear. Because of this it was decided to continue the work in the village. With Rev Jeyanesan we decided too that the foundation will take responsibility and care for the widow and her two sons. The good news was that independent of the conflict between the LTTE and the army the relief support and the projects could continue. Rev Jeyanesan was as a church organization able to provide relief support to the refugees where other organizations and NGO’s were not allowed to do this. The projects are on target. The Christian School is doing well, the End of Poverty project in Murokkodanchenai is making good progress and also the homes are running well. We have to be thankful to God for this. And we discussed possible new projects and a visit of the board to Sri Lanka.

Others During his stay Rev Jeyanesan visited business relations and partners who participate in the work on Sri Lanka. Special attention was pay to the topic “how to fight poverty”. On Saturday evening we had a meeting with all people in the Netherlands who participate in the work of Ceylon Christian Care on Sri Lanka. It was nice to be with each other and share the stories. On Sunday we visited the Gereformeerde Gemeente of Veenendaal. Ellie Kroon did all the translations for Rev Jeyanesan. Both services gave strength, good talks and thought for future.
Finally What is clear is that in the current situation on Sri Lanka prayer is important for Rev Jeyanesan and his team. That the Lord may give them courage, strength and wisdom. And that He will protect them in all the work they do. And prayer is needed that there may be peace on Sri Lanka. Above all peace which is in the forgiveness of our sins in the blood of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Yours sincerely, Herman van der Weerd Ceylon Christian Care |

Dear friends,
Rev Jeyanesan visited the Netherlands again from Monday Sept 25th till Monday Oct 2nd. The goals for this visit were: · Presentations to the students of the Hoornbeeck College · Visit business relations which do support the work of Ceylon Christian Care on Sri Lanka. · Meeting with the board of Ceylon Christian Care and discuss the status of the projects
Hoornbeeck College The Hoornbeeck College is an institute with 4,000 students for secondary vocational training for children in the age from 16 in the Netherlands. The school has locations in 5 cities in the Netherlands. The management of the Hoornbeeck College took a decision to support the work of the Ceylon Christian Care foundation this school year. During this year students are going to collect money in various ways and the total amount will be donated to the foundation. The Hoornbeeck College has four vocational specializations: Business, Technical, Social Welfare and Care. The goal for each vocational specialization is supporting: · Micro Credits by the Business students · Building and development activities of the village of Murokkodanchenai by the Technical students · Handicapped children project and Day Care Centers by the Social Welfare students · Medical Health Centre and activities in the villages Periyaneelavanai and Murokkodanchenai by the Care students In all projects the Word of God will be the basis for all actions performed. With the management of the Hoornbeeck College a plan is made that students may do their practical part of the study on the project of Ceylon Christian Care on Sri Lanka. For example: Students of the business department may visit Sri Lanka and study how Micro Credits function and come with ideas how results can be optimized. We think that this possibility will benefit to the projects and the personal development of the students. During three days Rev Jeyanesan gave presentations in Kampen, Apeldoorn, Amersfoort and Rotterdam to groups of students about Sri Lanka, the civil war, the tsunami, the poverty, problems of widows, orphans, handicapped people and the work of the Ceylon Christian Care foundation. At the end of each presentation the children got time to ask questions. We were impressed by the interest of the students and the staff of the Hoornbeeck College. In our opinion this project will add value to the school and the foundation.
